Writing Update, and It's a Doozy

The blog has been quiet, and that's on me. Since starting work full-time again, I've had to adjust my writing priorities, and that means fiction first, guest posts second, blog posts third. I'm hopping to get back onto a once daily schedule here, starting next week.

I have been writing again, after a miserable first half of 2013. I've written for a new-personal-record 19 days in a row (Jamie Todd Rubin laughs, perched atop a cathedral somewhere), for a total of 15,980 words. That's an average of 841 words per day, which is above my minimum daily wordcount goal of 500, but below my ideal goal of 1000. Still, things could be a lot worse.

Within these 19 days, my low wordcount was 423, with my high at 2119. I've been jumping back and forth between a novel project and a short story. The short story -- just a goofy space opera thing -- is turning out much better than I expected, and far exceeds the novel's quality. In truth, that novel is going to be shelved for a while, as I look for other potential long projects.

I've been writing on my iPad using a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and it is amazing. I'll have a post later in the week on Writing on the iPad.

I'll be posting Writing Updates every Monday. Stay tuned.

How has writing been for you all?

  1. Been writing like a beast, about 1000 words a day for 32 days. Very little of it is 'profitable' thus, no doubt, this causes me issues.
